Description
President Nicolae Ceausescu of Romania playing volleyball during a visit to Colonial Williamsburg in 1970. President Ceausescu mentioned his love of volleyball during his tour of the Historic Area, so a net was set up in the backyard of the Lightfoot House, where he was staying. A short game between the Romanian officials and a combination of Colonial Williamsburg and State department officials ensued, with the Romanians winning.
