Deborah Bryant (or Miss America 1966) toured Williamsburg on April 7th, 1966. During her visit, she met with the twenty local contestants for the Miss Williamsburg pageant. Her tour of the historic area began with a photo op at the Governors Palace so that the press would have enough quality images and she could tour the rest of the town in peace. Here, she is pictured with Williamsburg mayor Henry M. Stryker and architect A. Edwin Kendrew.

Patricia Lowson, Lady Mayoress of London, accompanied her husband Denys Lowson on his September 1951 tour of Colonial Williamsburg. Patricia was known for her energy and her interests that ranged from interior decorating to model trains. With her wealth of energy, it is no surprise that she accompanied Mrs. Jean Chorley and Mrs. J.D. Rockefeller III on a cycling tour of the historic area.

Sir Winston Churchill's first visit to Colonial Williamsburg occurred after World War II and he was accompanied on his 1946 tour by General Dwight D. Eisenhower. After touring the College of William and Mary's historic Wren building, the group proceeded to a tea at the Raleigh Tavern. In this image, Churchill can be seen enjoying a clay pipe and a glass of cider.

Walter Cronkite visited Colonial Williamsburg during the 1967 Prelude to Independence event. Mr. Cronkite was one of many notable guests at the 1967 Prelude to Independence, which ran from May 15 to July 4. The main celebration occurred on May 27, 1967, when this photograph was taken.
This was one of many visits 'Uncle Walter' made to Colonial Williamsburg. He would return to give remarks at a General Assembly meeting held in the Capitol, as a noted guest to a Colonial Williamsburg Board of Trustees meeting, and as a journalist to cover the final Ford/Carter debate of the 1976 Presidential Election, held in Williamsburg.

Acclaimed American poet Robert Frost enjoys a beverage in Chowing's Tavern on December 5, 1941. Frost had come to Williamsburg for a meeting of the College of William and Mary's Phi Beta Kappa society. At this particular meeting, Frost read several poems which had not been made public before, including "The Gift Outright." Nearly twenty years later, "The Gift Outright" would become famous when Frost read it at John F. Kennedy's inauguration.
This photograph is a copy made in 1956 by a Colonial Williamsburg staff photographer. The original photographer is unknown.
