Directly in front of the Palace Kitchen is the whitewashed Smokehouse, followed by the Salthouse (same size, also whitewashed). The brick building directly behind the Smokehouse and Salthouse (to the north) is the Laundry. The small brick hexagonal structure in the foreground (adjacent to the Laundry) is the Bagnio (bathhouse), once used by the Governor. Two female costumed interpreters (formerly referred to as "hostesses") stand in gowns in the open courtyard near the Palace Kitchen and Scullery
