Canine television star Lassie visited Colonial Williamsburg in 1966. The cast and crew of "Lassie" came to Williamsburg to film the third chapter of the 7-part "Lassie the Voyager" story arc. This episode came in the 13th season of the show, during the time known as "the Ranger years," when Lassie worked with a Ranger in the Forest Service. "Lassie the Voyager" featured a long arc of Lassie's separation from the Rangers and journey from Virginia to New Orleans. Part 3, filmed in Williamsburg, features a local attorney protecting Lassie from being treated as a wild dog.
