Description
South elevation of the Courthouse, 1926, as it appeared after restoration in 1911. When a fire gutted the interior in 1911, four columns were installed to support the exterior portico.
Notation on Reverse: "[ill.] Williamsburg, said to be designed by Sir Christopher Wren across the sq. is the old powder horn from which Patrick Henry removed Lord Dunmore's powder and ammunition as the outbreak of the Rev. When this building was originally built, there were no columns to support the pediment. The bldg is in a [ill.] state of preservation."
